Spin-off de l’EPFL, la jeune pousse RAW Labs annonce une levée de fonds de 5,5 millions de francs auprès d’investisseurs spécialisés, parmi lesquels le fonds suisse Investiere. “Le financement servira à accélérer son développement commercial auprès des grandes entreprises et à étendre les capacité de notre plateforme “NoDB””, a détaillé Lars Farnstrom le tout nouveau CEO.

Destinée aux ingénieurs et autres analystes, cette solution permet d’accéder, d’interroger, de nettoyer et d’améliorer des sources de données en temps réel. “Les outils d’analyse de RAW Labs permettent d’utiliser ces données pour de nouvelles applications, sans avoir à développer au préalable une solution logicielle spécifique”, ajoute le dirigeant. Dans les faits, elle aide donc les entreprises à accélérer leur transformation numérique.

RAW Labs raises USD 5.5 million to help enterprises unlock the value of their data

Lausanne-based RAW Labs completed a USD 5.5 million pre-A funding round with new and existing investors. The funds will support the surge in demand for RAW Lab’s revolutionary data management solution. The company, which was supported by Venture Kick and was a TOP 100 Swiss Startup, also announced Lars Farnstrom as its new CEO.

The financing round was led by a group of investors specializing in investments of high-growth technology companies and The funding will enable RAW Labs to accelerate the acquisition of large enterprise clients and continue investing in the expansion of the capabilities of its core NoDB data platform. Claude Honegger (former global CIO of Credit Suisse) and Pyrros Koussios (former private equity investor and senior executive at international technology companies) are joining the board of directors. 

“We are excited that Lars has accepted the CEO role. His long experience in enterprise software from companies like Siebel Systems and is a tremendous asset and will enable us to take RAW Labs to the next level,” said Ariel Luedi, one of the founding investors of RAW Labs and former CEO of SAP Hybris. Professor Anastasia Ailamaki, co-founder of RAW Labs, will continue as Chief Scientific Officer with the mission to strengthen the company’s research into groundbreaking data management technologies.

5,5 Millionen frisches Kapital für Raw Labs

Seine Technologie ermögliche es, Daten aus verschiedenen Quellen lediglich mit einer Query zu analysieren, sagt Raw Labs.

Das von Ariel Lüdi mitfinanzierte Lausanner “NoDB”-Startup zieht neue Investoren an und erhält auch einen neuen Chef.

Raw Labs, ein Spin-off der ETH Lausanne, teilt mit, in einer Finanzierungsrunde frisches Kapital in der Höhe von 5,5 Millionen Franken erhalten zu haben. Beteiligt hätten sich sowohl bisherige als auch neue Investoren. Das Kapital werde Raw Labs helfen, neue Grosskunden zu gewinnen und die Fähigkeiten seiner “NoDB”-Datenverarbeitungstechnologie weiter auszubauen.

Gleichzeitig gibt es einige Änderungen in der Führungsriege. Lars Färnström, der seit 2017 für Raw Labs arbeitet, wird neuer CEO. Anastasia Ailamaki, Mitgründerin und bisherige Chefin, wird Chief Science Officer des Jungunternehmens. Der Verwaltungsrat erhält zwei neue Mitglieder, den früheren Group-CIO der Credit-Suisse, Claude Honegger, sowie den Finanzexperten Pyrros Koussios.

Zu den ersten Geldgebern von Raw Labs gehörte der bekannte Schweizer IT-Investor und frühere CEO von SAP Hybris, Ariel Lüdi. Er zeigt sich insbesondere erfreut über die Ernennung von Färnström zum CEO. “Seine langjährige Erfahrung mit Enterprise Software, die er unter anderem bei Siebel und gewonnen hat, ist ein grosses Plus für uns und wird es uns ermöglichen, Raw Labs auf das nächste Level zu bringen”, lässt er sich in der Mitteilung zitieren.

Raw Labs sagt, seine “NoDB”-Technologie ermögliche es, auf strukturierte Daten aus verschiedenen, auch sehr komplexen Quellen zuzugreifen, sie zu bearbeiten oder zu analysieren, ohne dass dafür eine vorherige Aufbereitung der Daten notwendig sei. Dazu genüge es, eine SQL-Query zu schreiben. Die Technologie übernehme dann automatisch aufgrund der Frage die Aufbereitung und Optimierung der Daten und baue die zur Beantwortung der Frage notwendige Datenbank.
